Local Walks

What better way to take in all that the Lake District has to offer, than by seeing it on foot?  We are surrounded by fabulous local walks and routes, many of which are available from our doorstep so you can leave the car behind.  (Read more about how to enjoy ‘car free holidays’ here.)

Here are some of our recommended local walks in and around The Quiet Site, along with some information about The Ullswater Way walks.  We encourage you to pick up the trail on any of these beautiful walks when you are visiting us.  If you need any advice regarding the walks, then please get in touch.

The Ullswater Way Walk

The Ullswater Way is a 20-mile walking route around Ullswater. The route can be walked in either direction and from any starting point. Why not walk the route in shorter sections, using an open top bus or steamer to start your journey!

HIKING & FELL RUNNING GUIDES:

We have teamed up with local guiding company Hiking Highs.  Nicky Merrett and her team include Winter Mountain Guides too, all of whom have lots of local knowledge and stories and are super experienced to give confidence and skills during your day.  If you take a guide you will literally have a bespoke ‘journey’ tailored for you. Explore our valleys, or onto the fells to spot the Oldest Red Deer herd in England, or onto the Mountain summits throughout the Lake District.  Full and Half Days available

Hiking Highs also offer Bespoke Deer Rutting Hikes in the secluded Martindale valley during October.
