Sadly, this time we didn't have as great experience as the first time we visited. There is construction work on going... at the site so it is anything but quiet during the day. They also no longer allow fire pits so that is quite dissapointing to say the least. There is no rationale offered and they acted as if it was never allowed although we were here in September and it was fine. Would have been nice to be upfront about the works going on so people who really want to relax and escape from the noisy day to day life can do so. We tried to have a nap and all we could hear is nail guns, cement mixer and lots of drilling and sawing. All that really changed my experience from 'amazing, that's my favourite camp site' to 'I think i will pass'. Wouldn't recommend unless they become more upfront about the condition of the site and any potential ongoing maintenance.Edit. Thanks for your response. Just to let you know, we did not have a fire pit when we visited, however most people who were at the hobbit holes did so we decided to bring wood with us for when we come back for longer stay. Seems like you are quick to point the finger tho, it is all just feedback not a personal attack.read more

Really top notch site with friendly staff, we stayed in one of the furnished glamping cabins and it was an great couple... of nights. Fully kitted out with more than I thought it would be. Also the site amenities are very good, we had the bacon roll for breakfast and the pizza for dinner and both were very nice. The bar was good fun, quirky with some locally sourced drinks. Highly recommended and we will be backread more

A great site. Stayed in the hobbit holes which were a fantastic alternative to camping.I'd certainly recommend this... site.Very handy having the small takeaway which does pizza / bacon / crepes etc in the mornings and evenings.Shower block was clean and tidy but could do with upgrading to match the high quality finish across the rest of the site.read more

At £50 a night I was expecting something a little different. And I definitely got it. But not in the way that I... expected, myself and my wife were in a camper with awning. My son and daughter-in-law and three grandchildren were next to us with a tent. We where watching a program on a mobile phone in our awning, with the three children playing games. At 9.20pm we were asked to quieten down by a warden! We didn’t think we were to rowdy and so challenged him, he wasn’t happy about this, but carried on with his round telling other campers the same. At 10pm he came again, this time with backup. Again asking us to quieten down. Again I challenged him, how quiet can you be in an awning or tent? We went into the camper after our second warning and later to bed. We got a call the next day asking for £100 deposit to stay quiet in future or we would have to leave. Again I challenged at how quiet you can be in a tent. No radio tv or music after 9pm apparently!! I actually thought we were in a 1930s holiday camp. The toilets and showers never seemed to get clean, my wife had to ask both mornings for toilet paper, shop is over expensive, like the site fees, the pub looks better on print than it actually is, again expensive. The playground was grubby and muddy, maybe because of the amount of rain that weekAnd the location has you captured for the evening, because it’s a trek to get anywhere and a bloody long walk back. All uphill. Would we visit again? Not a chanceWould we recommend the quiet site? Not if you have a young family.Find somewhere nearer to the lake.I can guarantee you will have more fun and it will be cheaperread more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Quiet Site, it has a great atmosphere and it's a very romantic spot for couples.... Definitely would recommend it for a weekend getaway.Unfortunately the weather hasn't been so great during our stay, so we couldn't enjoy stargazing through our pod's roof window, but we still had a really good time at the site. Hopefully next time we will see the stars too! 😀read more

My daughter booked this and it was amazing! We were welcomed by staff who actually walked in front of the car and... showed us where to go. We stayed in a pod and it was brilliant! Warm and cosy! We were situated not far from Keswick and there are lots of walks around the campsite. There's a hut selling food and a club/pub on site too. The views are stunning and it's a small quiet site. I would definitely come back!read more

Beautiful calm campsite/glampsite with stunning views over Ullswater toward Helvellyn. Tucked far enough away from... urban centres to achieve the quiet that the name suggests but not so far as to be inconvenient for a bit of shopping when required. That said, there is a pretty good convenience store on site, a bar and a simple food shack that does coffees all day long plus crepes for breakfast and pizzas for evening, all freshly made. Absolutely stunning place, very well thought out and fastidiously maintained. See website for the myriad of accommodation options. The weather in the lakes will of course do what it wants, but the Quiet Site will be dependably excellent. Recommended.read more

We absolutely loved our time here. The scenery was beautiful, and the site was quiet like we wanted. The staff were... extremely friendly and showed us to our pod. The only downside was lack of vegan options, which surprised us because the site promotes being green and sustainable. Stayed for 2 nights in a glamping cabin (number 4) earlier this week and had a great time. The pods are brilliantly... designed and we had lovely views of the hills with sheep and cows for neighbours. The pod has everything you need apart from a hob but there is a microwave and we took a bbq with us so it didn't matter too much but would be nice to be able to make a bacon sandwich for breakfast. There was a bottle of Prosecco and chocolates on arrival which was an unexpected treat. Our pod was West facing and the decked area is a real suntrap which was great. As the name suggests it is a very peaceful site and they encourage guests to keep noise to a minimum. 2 suggestions for improvement would be a wider food offering in the quiet bite or the bar (the bar really is lovely by the way) and a firmer mattress but this is a personal preference. Would highly recommend a stay here and hope to return one day in the future.read more

So this trip was originally booked for 2020 - but due to Covid postponed till May 2021 - in December I tragically lost... my mum discussions happed and I originally added an extra booking to his holiday - I'd booked with a credit statement a tent holiday from Monday to Friday, and then booked my dad to come in his caravan with his dog for the same period after explaining the situation amazingly they where able to accommodate this. A about a month later after discussion with my dad and partner we decided to ask if it was ok for us to cancel out booking for the tent and join my dad on his booking so we could all be together, everyone I dealt with was amazing, from Sarah, Millie, Becky, Charlotte, Ilona and Jen who extended my credit note, I cant recommend the quite site more than this off just customer service alone. I'm looking forward to my holiday which is next week. Thank you all for being such starsread more

The Quiet Site is exactly what its name suggests - a tranquil haven in the heart of the Lakes with a number of scenic... walks starting right at the front gates. We spent two lovely days here in one of the Glamping Cabins, which was cosy, comfortable, and beautifully kitted out with everything we needed and more, including a bottle of prosecco waiting for us on arrival. Covid restrictions were in place meaning that the bar and shop were closed, but we knew this before booking and it didn't detract from our stay. Probably the nicest site I've ever stayed at, and I'd love to return when it's all open to get the full experience.read more

We have now stayed in the hobbit holes twice and this weekend we managed to get a cancellation in one of the pods. What... can I say about the Quiet Site. Well its exactly what the name states. We have had yet another peaceful and memorable stay. The facilities are second to none the staff friendly and welcoming and the views of Ullswater spectacular! The bar in the evening is homely and we always enjoy a nite cap in the well stocked bar by the roaring fire after a long days hike. Absolutely love this site. Been a couple of times and going again soon. Me and my wife call it our happy place and even... though there's no entertainment as such on a night our kids (12 and 9) love it and happily play together outside. They love the Hobbit Holes and treat the break as a little adventure. The site has such a lovely atmosphere, so calm and relaxing and the views are stunning. Staff are wonderful, the pub is atmospheric and full of character, everywhere is spotless. To start with you’re greeted in the Shop with a lovely compassionate member of staff, they explain everything, hand out... a park map and even a hand drawn map of all local walks, from 2 miles up to 10. You’re escorted to your pitch and shown the amenities there, especially if you’re on a Fully Serviced Pitch.Toilets and Shower Blocks are always within a 5 minute walk and the best thing is that they’re free. No 50p for 5 minute malarky, you also have free access to the family bathroom with lovely sized baths! We love the new waste-free shop. Fresh Milk, Orange Juice, bread and even Croissants each morning. Followed by snack and confectionary items that you can select and weigh yourself, along with local delicacies. From the shop we purchased The Quite Site bag and water bottle which they will fill up with a soft drink of your choice. Staff members are always on hand no matter the time of day, you also can email them with any questions and they’re bound to sort it out as soon as required.Daniel the Owner/Manager is a great asset to The Quiet Site Team. Always friendly and ensuring that you’re holiday is running smoothly. For campers there is a Campers Kitchen, with Fridges, Freezers, Microwave and Kettles. Also a hot drink machine for teas and coffees. This is a great place to chill out if the weather isn’t the best or if you’re needing somewhere to store your food, with a rustic wood feel and underfloor hearing you’re never uncomfortable.Drinks from The Quiet Bar are cheap, lovely and chilled. Lovely place to spend the evening during a thunderstorm, relaxed environment with live shows, we experience Magic with Lewis which was a good laugh. There are a large variety of Fully Serviced Pitches, some out the way, bit more secluded if you’re wanting peace, and others overlooking the play park with incredible views. We can’t wait to be back in October.Only issue we had is pitching the awning in on the gravel pitches. It rained over night and that sorted it right out!It has taken us a while to get around to write this review as it has been 4 weeks since we left the site and are missing every moment.read more

Lovely little camp site, we stayed in one of the Hobbit Holes and it was amazing. It's aptly named "The Quiet Site"... because you will never experience peace and quiet like it, the whole stay was bliss. The Hobbit Hole was very clean, spacious, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. We had a very nice view down towards Ullswater from the picnic bench outside our Hobbit Hole, it was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a coffee. There is a little bar on site which was very nice, especially the fire. The bartender was very friendly and very helpful. You are close to Aira Force which is worth a visit and if anyone is looking for a decent pub to get a bite to eat The Brackenrigg is just down the road. We got our stay as part of a Virgin Experience so saved a lot of money but would gladly pay the full amount when we go back, worth every penny. Would definitely recommend.read more

We spent 5 nights at the Quite Site and loved every minute of it! We were very lucky as the weather was hot and... sunny. We had a pitch at the top of the site on a terrace overlooking the whole campsite and over to Ullswater! The pitch size is really good and there is a children’s play area at the bottom of the site. It has easy access and you can park your car close to your tent. There is a small shop open during the day and has essential in there to buy as well as a good selection of meats and other foods, you can even charge our phone in there for a pound! If you want more or a supermarket the closest one is only 3 miles away and is open till 10pm. There is a covered 'campers kitchen' where you can use the fridge and freezer plus a microwave. There is a recommended board with suggested places to eat and explore whilst you are visiting. On check in they also give you 4 popular walks to do from which you can walk out from the site. The site is extremely clean with lots of shower facilities and 2 baths. I believe these has just been refurbished so everything is new. There is a small cosy bar on site which is open 7pm-11pm and has entertainment in most evenings and reasonable selection of drinks at good prices. There is also a pub at the bottom of the hill if you fancy some pub grub and a local ale.You can rent out tepees, caravans and little wooden lodges as well as brining your own tent. This is one of the best campsites we’ve been to with great facilities and a cracking view of Ullswater. We will defiantly be back next year!read more
